President Donald Trump made his first inaugural presidential trip aboard the new Air Force One on Wednesday, using the aircraft to travel to North Dakota for the dedication of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library as part of the nation’s America 250 celebration.
The journey marks the first official mission for the newly commissioned Boeing 747, which joined the presidential fleet after the U.S. government accepted it earlier this year. Trump unveiled the aircraft last week, praising its red, white, blue and gold paint scheme and calling it a “flying White House.”
The North Dakota visit is centered on the opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, a project years in the making that honors the 26th president’s conservation legacy, military service and influence on the presidency.

The day’s itinerary extends beyond air travel.
After arriving in North Dakota, Trump is scheduled to ride aboard the BNSF Freedom 250 Train before continuing to the library. A ceremonial escort of horseback riders portraying Theodore Roosevelt’s famed Rough Riders will accompany the presidential motorcade during the final leg of the trip.
“President Trump will make history twice in one day: boarding the new Air Force One for its maiden flight and traveling to the great State of North Dakota to dedicate the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library,” White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales told the New York Post.
“No modern president understands what it means to be the ‘man in the arena’ better than President Donald Trump, and he will deliver a fitting tribute to President Theodore Roosevelt, one of the greatest leaders in American history, as we celebrate our country’s proud 250th anniversary,” she added.
