9/11, 25 Years Later – The Hugh Hewitt Show

A quarter century ago, Hugh and I prepared for the Tuesday broadcast as least prepared as we had ever been. The prior day, we both had taken part in a benefit 100-hole golf tournament for our local chapter of Young Life. We had an amazing day of fun and fellowship with a lot of our friends and figured since nothing much was going on in the world, we’d spend the day hammering each other about our golf game.

And then moments before going on the air, we learned that a plane had struck the first tower in New York City. Right before the theme played, we watched in horror as the second plane hit the second tower, and we knew instantly the world had changed forever and that we were at war.

This is the Hugh Hewitt Show that day, reacting in real time to what was unfolding. We had no idea then what today would look like. We were just trying to get through that day.

Never forget.
