Speaking at the Pentagon Friday, President Trump said the country’s promise to remember the victims of Sept. 11 still carries a military obligation.
“Today we renew the sacred oath that we first swore in their names a quarter of a century ago: we will never, ever forget. That’s why we fight today,” Trump said.
“We don’t have a choice. It can only be victory. We fight hard. We fight to win.”

Trump later saluted U.S. service members “working right now to ensure the world’s No. 1 sponsor of terror — the Islamic Republic of Iran — will never, ever have a nuclear weapon.”
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made the same broader argument, tying the current conflict to Iran’s decades-long support for militant groups and attacks on Americans.
“Our warriors have fought an Islamic theocracy that has wished us death for nearly half a century,” Hegseth said, adding that Iran had sponsored attacks that killed Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan.
