Tearful LeBron James Hands Over Flopping Crown To Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — In a touching ceremony, basketball legend LeBron James finally passed the official “King of Flops” crown on to the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Though James was reluctant to part with his long-held crown, as he watched Gilgeous-Alexander flop around the court during the playoffs like an injured river salmon, he knew it was time.

“This belongs to you now,” said a tearful but proud LeBron as he handed over the crown. “You earned it. My best days of being carried off the court into a wheelchair after sustaining a slight boo-boo are behind me. When I saw a defender brush your jersey and you crumpled to the court, then appeared to have a full-on grand-mal seizure… I knew the torch had to be passed.”

Teammates cheered as the newly minted flopping king gratefully donned his crown. “Wow. This means so much,” said Gilgeous-Alexander. “All of those times I fell over like an unwieldy baby and winced over my owie, it all paid off. I’m going to go out there and make you proud, LeBron.”

At publishing time, James and Gilgeous-Alexander had both fallen into blubbering heaps on the floor after accidentally bumping elbows during the ceremony.
