Aaron Rodgers Blasts Fauci Over Fifth Amendment Testimony

Aaron Rodgers had four minutes before Pat McAfee’s “hard out.”

He wanted every second for Anthony Fauci.

The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback torched the former federal health official Monday, branding Fauci an “absolute coward” for invoking the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times during a Senate hearing on the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’m gonna plead the Fifth,” Rodgers said mockingly during a live appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” from Steelers training camp.

“Like that absolute coward Tony Fauci. Absolute coward. Are you kidding me? You got a pardon and you pleaded over 100 times. What are you scared of, Tony?”

McAfee and his co-hosts laughed as members of the crowd cheered. Rodgers kept going.

“I thought you were the science,” the quarterback said.

The line was a jab at Fauci’s stature during the pandemic, when he became the federal government’s most visible public-health official and a frequent target of Americans skeptical of vaccine mandates, lockdowns and Washington’s response to the virus.

Rodgers then turned his fire on mainstream media outlets, accusing them of obsessing over his vaccination status while showing little interest in Fauci’s refusal to answer senators’ questions.

“And how much time did the network spend on my responses every week, on my vaccination status, on Taylor and Travis’s wedding?” Rodgers asked, referring to Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

“Did they do even a minute on Tony Fauci?” Rodgers continued. “Nah, I bet they didn’t.”

Fauci invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination more than 100 times during last week’s Senate hearing while facing questions from Republican lawmakers about the government’s pandemic response.

Invoking the Fifth Amendment is a constitutional right and does not, by itself, establish guilt.

Fauci received a federal pardon from former President Joe Biden, but Rodgers questioned why the former official would still decline to answer.

“I thought you had a pardon there, Tony,” Rodgers said. “Why couldn’t you answer one question the entire time?”

Some Republican officials have called for Fauci to face prosecution over his pandemic-era conduct, although no criminal wrongdoing is established by his decision to invoke the Fifth.

McAfee eventually tried to steer the show back toward football, reminding Rodgers that the segment was rapidly running out of time.

“I’ve got four minutes till the hard out,” McAfee said.

Rodgers was not finished.

“We can keep this s— going,” he replied. “I got at least four minutes.”
