GLOUCESTERSHIRE — CNN reported an ugly example of racial profiling coming out of the UK last weekend, as a British farmer called the police on a group of Muslim men who were out for a Sunday drive.
According to CNN journalists on the ground, five Muslim men had gone out in their white vans for an early Sunday drive when a white farmer called the police, claiming that they “looked suspicious.”
“Islamophobia is alive and well in the UK,” said CNN investigative journalist Mika Bradford. “These men were labeled a threat for the mere crime of driving while Muslim. What sort of country is the UK that a group of Muslim men cannot go out for a country drive in a group of unmarked vans without being subjected to hateful bigotry? We are appalled that not only did the police take a citizen tip that was clearly racial profiling, but they acted on it, arresting and strip-searching these men who had perpetrated no violent act.”
CNN managed to obtain an interview with one of the men who was victimized by the profiling incident. “We were able to speak to this poor man, Abdul Mohammed, while he was being held by police,” stated CNN’s Jake Tapper. “Mohammed expressed how disappointing it was to still face this level of discrimination in the UK. He said it seemed like all of the progress in Muslim acceptance has been for naught. Mohammed stated that he felt like the only solution was to kill all of the infidels and impose Sharia law, and we at CNN can certainly empathize with how Mohammed is feeling after all he’s just been through.”
At publishing time, CNN had announced that, in a positive development, the innocent men had all been released on bail and could go back to whatever it was they were doing.
