Former CNN host Don Lemon says he is seriously considering a 2028 White House bid, revealing that he has already consulted political insiders about when to enter the race and what it would take to compete.
“I actually think I would be a really good president of the United States,” Lemon declared during an interview at his New York City home. “I’m being totally serious.”
The longtime television anchor stopped short of announcing a campaign or forming an official exploratory committee. He did, however, make clear that his interest has moved beyond random cocktail-party chatter.

“I’ve stuck my toe into it,” Lemon said when asked if he had assembled a team.
“I’ve talked to people about it, people who have been in politics before, and asked, what would it take? When would I have to get in to do it?”
Lemon said repeated encouragement from others initially placed the idea in his head.
“People keep asking me if I’m running for president, and I don’t know, I might, because people keep asking me to do it and if I’m going to do it,” he said.
The former primetime host also took an early swipe at his potential competition, saying many of the names being floated for 2028 have failed to impress him.
“I look around, you know, and I see the folks who are, you know, possibly in the running, and some of them are impressive,” Lemon said. “Many of them, most of them, are not.”
