Ireland March for Life Will See Thousands Protest Abortion

The annual March for Life takes place in Dublin on Bank Holiday Monday (4th May), starting at 2pm from the Newman Church side of St Stephen’s Green before making its way to the Dáil where guest speakers including Ken O’Flynn TD from Independent Ireland, Councillor Ellen Troy of Aontú and Pro Life Campaign spokesperson Caroline Simons will take part. Thousands of pro-life supporters from around Ireland are also expected at the event.

Event organiser, Eilís Mulroy of the Pro Life Campaign said: “The annual March for Life is becoming far more than a date in the calendar. It’s playing an increasingly vital role in strengthening the pro-life movement, energising volunteers, and shifting the national conversation.

“Amid the growing calls of late on the Government to listen to and act on the concerns of ordinary citizens, we must ensure the pro-life issue is brought front and centre, in order to drive a policy shift in favour of initiatives focussed on reducing Ireland’s spiralling abortion rate.

“Bank Holiday Monday 4th May is our chance in 2026 to unite with our pro-life Oireachtas members and send a very clear message to the Government that we expect to see urgent action taken to end the appalling situation at present where women are being kept in the dark about positive alternatives prior to an abortion taking place. We hear from women all the time who regret their abortions and who say options other than abortion were never mentioned when they sought help from State run agencies after becoming pregnant. This is an intolerable situation and has to end. Things will only improve if enough pressure mounts. Change happens when people show up. That’s why we’re counting on all pro-life supporters to turn out for this year’s march.”

Ireland’s abortion rate rose from 2,879 in 2018 to 10,852 in the last year for which there are numbers, something the Pro Life Campaign has called a “devastating tragedy that demands immediate action from the government, focussed on reducing these soaring numbers.”
