Trump Marks 15 Straight Months of Zero Border Releases

The Trump Administration is celebrating another border milestone: 15 straight months without releasing a single illegal immigrant into the United States, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

DHS said Thursday that daily border apprehensions are down 94% compared with the Biden administration and have fallen to their lowest level in three decades.

“Again this month, the results are clear: President Trump’s border security agenda is restoring order and putting the safety of the American people first,” Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said.

The numbers represent a dramatic reversal from the border crisis Trump inherited, with the administration crediting aggressive enforcement and swift removals for deterring illegal crossings.

“DHS remains focused on enforcing our immigration laws, securing the border, and ensuring those who enter our country illegally are removed swiftly,” Mullin said. “Thanks to the strong leadership of President Trump, we have the most secure border in history.”

The administration also reported a jump in contraband seizures. Border authorities seized 26% more illegal drugs in July than during the comparable period under the Biden administration, including cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl and marijuana.

Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott said the results prove that enforcement works.

“Clear policy, strong enforcement, and dedicated frontline personnel are delivering results at our borders,” Scott said.

CBP’s work extended beyond immigration and narcotics enforcement. The agency also helped implement Trump’s trade agenda, flagging $23 billion in tariffs and other duties for collection during July alone.

The White House has made border security one of the defining successes of Trump’s second term, pointing to plunging apprehensions and the end of mass releases as evidence that the crisis was driven by policy choices, not an unavoidable lack of federal authority.

After years of chaos, the message from the administration is simple: The border is no longer a revolving door.
