New Yorkers heading to Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the NBA Finals Monday night are being told to prepare for major security restrictions as President Donald Trump is expected to attend the Knicks’ matchup against the San Antonio Spurs.
The NYPD and U.S. Secret Service announced sweeping security measures around MSG, including street closures, restricted access zones and airport-style screening procedures for fans entering the arena.
Authorities said vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be blocked from West 30th Street to West 35th Street between Sixth Avenue and Eighth Avenue beginning at 4 p.m.

Only ticketed fans, Penn Station commuters and people working within the secured Midtown perimeter will be allowed inside the restricted zone.
Officials also warned fans not to bring backpacks, purses, bags or other containers into Madison Square Garden. There will be no storage area available for prohibited items.
Law enforcement urged spectators to arrive at least two hours before tip-off due to enhanced screening procedures.
“All attendees will pass through TSA-style magnetometer screening before entering the arena,” said Matt McCool, special agent in charge of the Secret Service’s New York field office.
Trump’s expected appearance at the Garden comes as the Knicks continue their deepest postseason run in decades, turning MSG into the center of the sports world — and now one of the most heavily secured locations in Manhattan.
